Bruce Gallaher, M.S., P.Hg

Bruce Gallaher has over 30 years experience in water quality and hydrology. He has the good fortune to work across the country and Australia on problems related to the vulnerability of our drinking water. He specializes in tracing the movement of contaminants across the landscape, and discerning human caused pollution. He enjoys simplifying complex technical issues to concepts the public can understand.

Environmental Experience at Los Alamos National Laboratory

Bruce worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory for 18 years, primarily as a contaminant hydrologist. Some of his LANL duties included:

  • Principal Investigator of Hydrology for the Environmental Restoration Project
  • Hydrology Team Leader
  • Co-developer of site-wide hydrogeologic characterization project
  • Principal analyst assessing LANL impacts on Rio Grande drainage system

Regulatory Compliance Experience

Bruce worked 12 years in technical evaluation, regulatory compliance and administration with the New Mexico Environment Department. He was the first Hydrologist hired to administer the New Mexico groundwater quality protection regulations, and later worked with CWA and RCRA. He also has assisted the U.S. EPA, U.S. NRC, U.S. BLM, U.S. DOE and municipal government in environmental impact studies and compliance evaluations.

Field and Data Assessment Expertise

He has broad experience in monitoring network design, data collection and forensic analysis that relate to water. Some examples are:

    • Project lead for U.S. Geological Survey water resources investigation in Georgia
    • Directed public health/water quality investigation in 50-square mile area of a municipality
    • Liaison with City of Santa Fe Water Quality Task Force
